Breckenridge, Colorado fun! There are two peaks in here that have majority of the beginner's a.k.a. green circle ski trails: 8 and 9. However, while peak 8 has less traffic, peak 9 definitely has the better groomed terrains. Here, we try to look for the best lodging, dining, and ski rental deals that are in close proximity to a particular lift that will take you to the green runs of Peak 9. That way, you can easily get to it early before a long queue develops.
1. Where to get inexpensive lodging:
Among the best lodging deals we have located, the Great Divide Lodge along Village Road stood out above the rest. Not only is it just a 4 minute walk away from the 4-seater Beaver Run Super Chair, it also has great amenities, excellent service and only a $99 price tag to boot. It is evident that quality service is one of their main thrusts with a 24-hour guest service, a concierge and activities desk, friendly and approachable staff, and ski/bike valet to name a few. However, this is a dog-friendly lodge so if you're not one of those who consider them as man's best friend, you might want to look elsewhere. If you want to go around Breckenridge, there's a free shuttle service that passes through every 20 minutes.
2. Where to get inexpensive food:
One great thing about the Great Divide is that it is just a 5 minute walk away from the Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant along S. Park Avenue. As the name implies, it specializes in Mexican cuisine. We recommend the $8.95 Chimichanga de Pollo for a spicy lunch. You can also chomp on a steak for $16.95.
3. Where to find inexpensive ski rentals:
Just across the street from the Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant, you'll find the best deals in ski rental as well as other ski attires and equipment. Christy Sports rents out ski and snowboard equipment. They also offer repair and tuning services for these types of equipment. If you rent equipment for 5 days, you can avail of a free ski rental for your child. This only applies for kids who are 12 years old and below. Furthermore, there is a limit of 2 free ski rentals for each family. Still, this is one of the best deals you can find in town.
You can of course choose other inexpensive restaurants, hotels and ski rentals that may catch your fancy. There are many of them scattered around Breckenridge. Whether you can find them near the same beginner runs is a different story though. The purpose of this article is simply to get you started with something if it is your first time in Breckenridge.
